How many people do you know have facebook accounts?

Not too long ago I realized that everyone I know has a facebook account.  There are more people on facebook than twitter, myspace, and craigslist. I don't see the hype; it's just a bunch people sending pictures, chatting, giving out personal info, and gossiping to people who don't really care and wil more than likely never meet. I thought of facebook being a good way to meet, and correspond with other people. But to me it acts like a pacifier for people who are too afraid to go out and introduce themselves to others (be human). I spoke to my brother about his facebook account. He said something that made sense: " I closed my account. People want to be  friends. VIRTUAL friends. Not in real life. " Phony friends, computer generated comrades, simulation relation, ect. Yeah, who does  that? It looks like over 250 million facebookers do that a day. Don't get me wrong,
I' m not downing the whole "facebook craze". It just seems generic. Okay, I'll have to say it does connect people from different parts of the globe, who otherwise would've never known of each other.  Regardless of how anyone feels about it, this is the future of social networking until something new comes along.
